Painting forever, and ever and ever

So my head is a little floozy right now...I've been blowing through straws....at paint. In order to make nifty designs on cards. Its actually pretty fun. Nice natural high. Probably loosing brain cells...ya know...

An example of a card. You'd buy one, right?

Lets see, lets see, updates on life....Oh! I got a "job" modeling for some artists! YAY! I've kind of always wanted to do something like this...ever since I heard that Sukie in the Graveyard song.  I AM that weird child.

Thoughts: is it bad to sleep with wet oil paintings right next to your bed?...I know cadmium is cancerous and all...just wondering.

OH I had my first online dating experience deal. The idea actually came to me when my friend was telling me about her experience: meeting someone online, him taking her to get Greek food. Then, BAM, I had a massive craving for Greek food. As you know, I am broke. I came up with the ingenious plan of creating a profile which describes my love of food, especially the Greek variety. And you know what? I actually got a hit (a few really). Oh and the food was SOOO good. Gyros and Baklava...Yum! The date itself was pretty entertaining too. I have no idea how I keep meeting people who have lived in Japan, but I seem to be a magnet. I think maybe its a sign: I should go to Japan. Maybe visit the little Bunny Cafe.

So I haven’t updated in a while. It has been far too beautiful outside for me to do anything besides sit outside and watch clouds. Also, its midterm week, so I’ve been “busy” preparing for tests and writing papers (AKA going to the park and dancing around outside). The cold today depressed me greatly.

I’m thinking I’m dedicating next week to finding a suitable income. My first thoughts? Making greeting cards using watercolors. Perhaps selling them door to door in Forest. They’ll probably be mostly abstract, since they take less time to make. I can explain my desire to save money to travel the world. Hopefully, people will take pity on me, and be so mesmerized by my cards, that they will be willing to donate. If that doesn’t work, perhaps investing in a LED hoop and dancing around for money will.

In other news, I’m finishing up on my portrait for painting. I’d have to say that portraiture is my favorite. Portraiture with a touch of surreal. Glorious. I’m going to have to do much, much more of this in the future.

I just read an article on anti-shampooing which you can find here. I must say I have taken a similar approach for years. With the exception that I only wash my hair once a week, and instead condition daily. Though, now with shorter hair it seems the grease builds up faster.

Expect examples of my artwork on here soon. Maybe, if I get enough requests I can start selling prints. Or perhaps YOU have a request for me to paint something....if you do let me know! Feedback is mucho appreciated.

I should make greeting cards like this.

Procrastination and Bruises

Wow. I am the QUEEN of procrastination. I’ve been trying to work on a paper I have due for Junior Seminar ALL day. I have about a sentence of the 5 page paper done so far. I can’t really complain though; I took advantage of this beautiful day with a decent hooping workout. I also discovered my giant nose has a fondness of catching hula hoops. But at least I can do a (very sloppy) corkscrew now. It looks kind of like the video posted below, only with more cursing, and the hoop occasionally getting thrown at the house.

I’m going to cut today’s post short, since I have loads of work to do yet…but in the meantime, where do I go to see the excellent dark sky?

Everyday Struggle

So I am starting this blog in order to keep a record of, well basically, my day-to-day life. If you were in the Hampton Roads area, you may have noticed a giant ring around the moon last night. It’s apparently a phenomena caused by the refraction of moonlight by ice crystals. You can learn all about different types of moon light effects here  (3 stars from Stumbleupon!!).

I’m friends with the Dali Lama on Facebook. He sends me cool quotes every now and then. I got this one today:
“All the positive states of mind such as love, compassion, insight and so on, have the quality that you can enhance their capacity and increase their potential to a limitless degree, if you regularly practice them through training and by developing constant familiarity with them.”
I’ve been trying to get a job for a while now. The trend these days is for potential employers to only call me when I am in class, and then not answer when I call back an hour later. In the meantime, I’m trying out a few new ideas for making money. Some of them include: selling the random junk in my room, filling out random surveys (I may get $10 by the end of the year…), signing up for random J-14 contests (I could sell that guitar signed by some tween megastar for something), and finally begging. I’m thinking about making a shirt (using sharpie and an old tie dye) that says: “broke college student travel donations” with an arrow towards my pocket. Watch…in a few days I will be wearing it.

I’m also thinking about making a website dedicated to cute frogs. Maybe even photoshop some frogs wearing cute little outfits. Then I could sell prints of froglets in diapers. I’m sure there are some frog people out there who would DIE over it.

 (Its an eco-friendly CLOTH diaper)
